Why we support the TV4 agreement: A long-term and strategic investment

Ole Jacob Sunde, Chairman of the Tinius Trust.Ole Jacob Sunde, Chairman of the Tinius Trust.

Schibsted Media has agreed to acquire TV4 in Sweden and MTV in Finland from Telia. The Tinius Trust is making a significant contribution to the transaction.

– The agreement to acquire TV4 and MTV aligns with Schibsted Media's strategy to grow in the Nordics and strengthen its audio and visual media position, says Ole Jacob Sunde, Chairman of the Tinius Trust.

– TV4 and MTV are significant and influential players in the Swedish and Finnish media markets, and we are proud that Schibsted will now take over ownership. They complement Schibsted's existing operations well, spanning news, entertainment, and sports. In the competition against digital platform companies, strong editorial media producing high-quality content is crucial—both to remain attractive and to strengthen public discourse.

– This is precisely the type of investment we as owners should engage in. The acquisition of TV4 and MTV will provide Schibsted Media with a new and strong position in audio and visual media in the Nordics. This is a long-term and strategic investment that strengthens Schibsted Media and its media companies for the future, Sunde continues.

– One of the strengths of the Tinius Trust is that we can take a long-term perspective and have the capital to make bold choices. Our history over the past 20 years has demonstrated this, and we are proving it again by contributing to a major, long-term acquisition for Schibsted Media. This is how we will continue to take responsibility for developing the Nordic media landscape, says Sunde.
