Tinius Trust CEO, Kjersti Løken Stavrum, will lead the Norwegian government’s Commission for Freedom of Expression.
The 18 members of the Commission were appointed February 14th by the Minister for Culture and Gender Equality, Abid Raja.
– The members of the Freedom of Expression Commission have been given a very important social mission. They will use their knowledge and commitment to study the social, technological, legal, and economic frameworks for freedom of expression in Norway today, says Raja.
Head of the Freedom of Expression Commission, Kjersti Løken Stavrum, is looking forward to getting started with the task.
– The Commission’s task may be complicated, but it is first and foremost important. It is a great privilege to be allowed to lead the work, says Løken Stavrum.
It’s been 21 years since the previous Commission presented its recommendation.
– Our opportunities to express ourselves and receive information have changed dramatically since 1999. This Commission’s mission is to map out the new terms for freedom of speech and contribute to necessary changes and clarifications, says Løken Stavrum.
